Queensland institute to trial AI screening in pathology labs

A new machine learning tool developed by researchers at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Berghofer can help pathologists identify subtle cancer biomarkers in standard tissue samples.
The tool, called STimage, applies spatial analysis to hematoxylin and eosin-stained (H&E) tissue slides to detect molecular patterns associated with disease. It then generates a diagnostic prediction, assigns a confidence score and explains the basis for its result.
