Professor Stephen Smith

"Professor Stephen Smith is a clinician scientist who has held senior positions both in the academic field and in the NHS in the UK and abroad. He was the Dean of Medicine at Imperial College London from 2004 to 2011 and the CEO of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust from 2007 to 2011. He was also the Dean of Medicine at the University of Melbourne from 2013 to 2015.
Professor Smith is a gynaecologist by training and has published over 230 papers on reproductive medicine and cancer. He is a passionate advocate for improving patient care and has a strong track record of leadership in the NHS.
He has been the Chairperson of East Kent Hospitals NHS University Foundation Trust since March 2018. He is stepping down from this role in Spring 2023 to focus on work in the Middle East.
