The dispatches from Mariupol in March showed blatant violations of international human rights law that prohibit attacks on healthcare facilities and transport. The World Health Organization has confirmed 253 attacks on healthcare and 75 related deaths in Ukraine so far this year. But these attacks aren’t an isolated occurrence. In 2021, there were 1,335 incidents of violence or obstruction against health facilities and workers across 49 countries, according to the latest report from the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition released this week.
